Scoring Quiz

Each question shows a real winning hand, with the situation in which it won. You choose the value from four options, then see the reasoning step by step. Every question names its rule set, since scoring differs between tables. This is a quiz and not a calculator. It only uses hands we have written and checked, because working through a hand yourself is how you learn.

Before you start

• Hong Kong questions use a common faan table. Your group’s numbers may differ, so treat them as a guide.
• Riichi questions follow the European Mahjong Association’s 2016 rules. They ask about han, and leave out dora unless the question mentions it.
• American hands are not included. Their values are on the League’s card, which we do not reproduce.
